Mother to the late Abey Jachiga, Monica Auma has been seating in the grave of her son to prevent angry mourners from exhuming the body.
The youths said they are going to remove Abenny’s body since most his family members were not given the opportunity to pay his last respect.
“We are going to exhume the body and bury Abenny Jachiga at daytime because the wife and the children were also chased away during the midnight burial”- The angry youths said
It was confirmed that police buried the Luo Ohangla musician, Abeny Jachiga at 0230Hrs, Saturday morning.
The remains of the late musician were taken from the mortuary by heavily armed GSU officers who went ahead and buried him with one brother only allowed to attend.
The police opted to barry the body at night after the fans of the late musician refused that the body won’t be barrier toady as they claimed they needed more time to more the musician.
The mourners even decided to take the body back to the area morgue as they planned for a later date of burial.
The family requested the authorities to let them mourn the music legend and conduct an autopsy on the deceased to establish the cause of his death.
Abennie Jachiga died on Thursday at a St Lazarous Hospital in Kisumu after a short illness.
He was expected to be buried as quickly as possible with only close family members attending the burial ceremony as regarded by the government guidelines to keep social distancing.
To curb the spread of coronavirus, the government issued a directive for burial for only fifteen close family members to attend the burial and the body to be buried as quickly as possible.
Yesterday police had a hard time controlling the crowd which defied social distance directives with most not wearing their face masks as they escorted the deceased from the Port Florence mortuary.
Mourners trekked as other vehicles in a convoy including boda boda operators escorted the body to Chiga in Kadiju village with police officers following them closely.
At some point, the officers threw teargas canisters to pave way for the body to pass to access Kajidu Primary School, where mourners were allowed to view the body.
On Thursday following his death, fans drove while others trekked and ran to the facility to view the body of the musician in large numbers, prompting the hospital administration to lock the gates and later police were in place to control them.
However, this did not go well with the fans who ended up chasing after officers along the Kisumu- Busia Road that saw a section of the perimeter wall at the hospital facility morgue brought down.
