Embattled Former Majority leader Aden Duale has blamed Raila for the fake promises after assuring him that he will retain the majority seat.
Duale narrated incidences where he met the former prime minister in his capital hill office and even offered him some cash.
“I met the former prime minister and all his connections he promised me that he will talk with president Uhuru to help me retain his majority seat position at the National Assembly.” he said
“Today i have known that Raila is a conman, i’m saddened by his behaviors. However i will look for him even after he has blocked my number.” He lamented
Duale has since been replaced by his Kipipiri counterpart Amos Kimunya as the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly as the purge on Jubilee Party rebels acquires an unstoppable finality.
The change was effected at the Jubilee National Assembly Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan has also been picked as the Secretary of the Jubilee Parliamentary Group to replace Kimunya. The meeting resolved that all committees are to be reconstituted on Thursday, June 25.
A statement from the State House read:
“PG discussed a petition made to the Party Leader regarding the Coalition’s National Assembly leadership and made the following changes: Appointed the Amos Kimunya as the new National Assembly Leader of Government Business and appointed the Adan Keynan as the new Secretary of the Jubilee Coalition National Assembly PG.”
According to the State House, a total of 174 out of 179 members of Jubilee party attended the meeting, despite the backlash from a section of MPs who had vowed not to attend it.On Sunday, Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe told
KTN News that the meeting would examine grounds tabled in Kieni MP Kanini Kega’s motion seeking to remove Mr Duale. Wangwe confirmed that Duale’s fate rested squarely on the party leader and the entire Jubilee leadership.“It is substantively before the party leader and party leadership but I wouldn’t preempt that this is what the party leadership will decide,” he said.
Kega had reportedly gathered 126 signatures out of a total of 179 Jubilee MPs to kick Duale out of the seat. But the Garissa Township MP survived in the last PG meeting in which the party made changes in the leadership of the parliamentary committees.
Also on the agenda, according to Wangwe is the formalisation of the recent changes made in the National Assembly which saw MPs Ben Washiali and his Cecily Mbarire dethroned from Majority Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
The two were replaced by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore respectively. It was initially unclear as to whether DP Ruto would attend the PG meeting owing to his frosty relations with the President. But he showed up masked in a navy blue suit at the KICC ahead of the meeting.
