Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has distanced himself from the arrest of controversial blogger Edgar Obare.
Obare confirmed in his IG status that a team of officers flooded his home and was arrested instantly without given notice.
He confirmed this in his Instagram status in the morning hours.
“As i said earlier i was summoned bt the DCI. Today morning i was arrested by very many officers at my home. Now am headed to Nairobi. Thank you for your undying support.”
But Governor Joho has told the blogger to carry his own cross after he linked the flamboyant governor to his arrest.
“Let everyone carry their own cross, i don’t work with the DCI and if he was summoned he must obey before being arrested. That is what it means to be a responsible citizen, otherwise what do i have with him that would lead to his arrest?” Joho paused
Edgar has on the past made a name of himself on Instagram. He is known for posting gossip stories crowd-sourced by his followers on Instagram that are posed on his Stories. People love gossip and that has led to him look for more information about celebrities and his Instagram Stories are so popular, he monetized it.
Edgar had announced that he has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over Natalie Tewa, a popular lifestyle YouTuber/influencer.
“So yesterday, I was informed I am being summoned to the DCI. I was kindly requested by an officer to appear at the DCI HQ without fail in the next few days. I am told the purpose of this summon is to answer questions about Natalie Tewa,“ he said on the Instagram Story posted over an hour ago.
If you don’t know the backstory about this summon, let me give you a rundown. A while back, the Mombasa governor, Hon Hassan Joho posted a photo of him going to Dubai. Inside the jet, people noticed a brown tote bag and started speculating what it was. Somehow the internet managed to figure out the likely owners of the bag and one of the alleged owners was Natalie Tewa.
This story was of great interest on Twitter and on Edgar Obare’s Instagram Stories. Later on, Edgar Obare posted visa details that allegedly belonged to Natalie Tewa that contained details like her full government name and date of travel. That incident had mixed reactions on social media and some people outed him on the behavior.
The leaking of Natalie Tewa’s visa to the UAE is the highest form of invasion of privacy. Edgar Obare’s homemade paparazzis have crossed a line. I hope the person behind it gets fired.

That Natalie Tewa visa might be how Edgar Obare goes down.
"Negligence overrides any disclaimer"
That is, if Natalie decides to press charges.

Well it seems that the ball has being rolled and Edgar is at the end of this cliff. Even Natalie Tewa herself hinted of this development regarding Edgar yesterday.
We have such a terrible culture of tearing other people down in the name of gossip. There’s already too much negativity in this world, contributing to it doesn’t improve your life or take you higher. Instead use your time wisely, because every minute of our lives counts.

Social media use has largely been unregulated until the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act was passed a while ago. We have seen people being arrested and charged before over such actions on social media by the DCI based on this law so we have to see what will happen in this Edgar Obare-Natalie Tewa case.
